Suite pour violoncelle et orchestre (Debussy/Beamish)

~ Suite

Annotation

At the age of 19 Debussy composed a suite for cello and orchestra. Most of the movements are lost: fourth movement was an Intermezzo, which survives in a version for cello and piano, as well as one for piano duet. Another work from the same time period is Nocturne et scherzo (but Nocturne seems to be missing). Beamish has orchestrated these two surviving movements which are supplemented with arrangements of other early Debussy pieces.
