Annotation

Extraordinary. The audio recording, the CD face, and the liner notes tell three different stories about how many tracks there are, and what those tracks are named.

Briefly, the CD audio has the Overture and Why Can't the English as track 1, while both the CD face and the liner show them as tracks 1 and 2; the CD face omits Wouldn't It Be Loverly; and from there on, the CD audio and CD face agree while the liner has track numbers which are greater by 1.

Here is a comparison of the three different track lists.

In this list of track titles, Aud gives the number of the track where one can hear the titled song in the audio recording. Face gives the number of that track on the face of the CD. Liner gives the number of that track in the liner's track list. "-" means that track title was missing from that copy of the list.

  • Overture / Why Can't the English: Aud: 1, Face: -, Liner: -
  • Overture: Aud: -, Face: 1, Liner: 1
  • Why Can't the English: Aud: -, Face: 2, Liner: 2
  • Wouldn't It Be Loverly: Aud: 2, Face: -, Liner: 3
  • With a Little Bit of Luck: Aud: 3, Face: 3, Liner: 4
  • I'm an Ordinary Man: Aud: 4, Face: 4, Liner: 5
  • Just You Wait: Aud: 5, Face: 5, Liner: 6
  • The Rain in Spain: Aud: 6, Face: 6, Liner: 7
  • I Could Have Danced All Night: Aud: 7, Face: 7, Liner: 8
  • Ascot Gavotte: Aud: 8, Face: 8, Liner: 9
  • On the Street Where You Live: Aud: 9, Face: 9, Liner: 10
  • You Did It: Aud: 10, Face: 10, Liner: 11
  • Show Me: Aud: 11, Face: 11, Liner: 12
  • Get Me to the Church on Time: Aud: 12, Face: 12, Liner: 13
  • A Hymn to Him: Aud: 13, Face: 13, Liner: 14
  • Without You: Aud: 14, Face: 14, Liner: 15
  • I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face: Aud: 15, Face: 15, Liner: 16

The MusicBrainz track names reflect the audio recording actually on the CD.

Amazon ASIN B0000024OY has the correct, gold-toned cover image, but it lists the 16-track list from the Liner, not the 15 tracks found on the CD audio of this Release.

The 1986 Release date is an educated guess. Nowhere on the medium or liner is any release date, or even copyright statement, to be seen. Amazon.com uses its 1990-10-25 date, which means "unknown".
