Lux

Callum Watson arrived with a bang on the UK bass scene in 2013 at the tender age of 20. Now he's all grown up like, and it shows. His new EP, Lux, is indeed a luxurious treat for connoisseurs of the finest bass music known to man. There are four serious workouts here, beginning with the title track's eerie opening gambit, "TriFi", features a fuzzy bass bounce, stomping percussion and a beautifully evocative breakdown, whilst after all that emotion WATSN straightens his shoulders for the hard as nails, hip-hop sampling "Dis". Finally the paranoia beat of "BDP" sees indecipherable chatter masked by serpentine rhythms and edge of your seat drums patterns. Safe!
