Annotation

"[Radio personality Howard Stern] wanted [the Goo Goo Dolls] to sing their song Iris with gay guys dancing around. They backed out of the appearance so Howard put his foot down and demanded that they come on. His station stopped playing Goo Goo Dolls songs. Well they finally agreed to come in so Howard was prepared... They claim[ed] that they didn't know anything about the big controversy until the sister of one of the guys called up and said Howard was being mean to them. They didn't seem to mind doing any of this stuff. Howard and Gary were dressed in sailor outfits... Howard wanted to do a reenactment of a scene from the movie Philadelphia with Tom Hanks. Then Howard had comedian Jon Stewart come in. He was also dressed as a sailor.... Howard had everyone pair up to do the dancing while the Goo Goo Dolls performed... The singer was cracking up during half the song. He could barely sing a couple of times."
