A New Orleans Christmas Carol

~ Release by Ellis Marsalis (see all versions of this release, 1 available)

Annotation

Track 21 is a track not listed on the CD packaging, but its title was retrieved from GD3 via dBpoweramp. It is readily accessible with a standard CD player, and is only "hidden" by the approximately 37 seconds of silence at the end of track 20.

SubOptimalCredits

Jason Marsalis performs the sleigh bells on track 8 (Winter Wonderland), but as of 2017-09-22 it's still an open issue whether it should be added as a unique instrument (see MetaBrainz ticket INST-210). In addition, he plays some sort of the same chime/bell on tracks 9 (Christmas Time is Here) and 11 (O Little Town of Bethlehem), but I could not positively identify it even to the degree of a broader category.

The following is verbatim from the liner notes, except where noted by square brackets, although some content between discrete entries is omitted:

This CD is dedicated to the memory of Leona Learson Ferdinand who departed this earth on September 26, 2002. A beautiful spirit who shared her life unselfishly.

Jason Marsalis - drums, percussion, vibraphone (7, 9, 17, 19)

Tracks 2-4, 7-8, 12-14 & 16 published by ASCAP. Tracks 6 & 9 published by BMI. All other tracks are public domain.

Vibraphone on tracks 3, 6, 11, and 15 recorded at Word of Mouth on Mar. 21st, 2010 and tracks 7 and 9 recorded at Word of Mouth on Oct. 11th, 2002. [The latter is encompassed by the existing recording dates for those tracks, but the former would require multiple recording dates on each track. This seems misleading, since the main recording was done long before the vibraphone was added in at a later date, and there's no way to clarify this in the relationship.]
