Production notes

Cowboy Desperado (2005) is practically the European release of Cinematronics (2004). Since neither Cinematronics nor Resound (2002) ever had proper European distribution, it was decided to take some tracks from each album and try to find a distributor for this album. The only previously unreleased track is Spider Eyes, a remake of the Spiderman Theme from Resound.

The album title is taken from the Cowboy Desperado track, and also gave the theme for the fantastic cover, made by Martin Kvamme.

Most of the music for Cowboy Desperado is taken from Cinematronics, which was done during 2003/2004. The Resound tracks were done in 2002. ThereseÕs vocals were recorded in Lydrommene, Bergen, with engineering assistance from the super nice J¿rn Rathe. Also the bandoneon on Rainy Transylvanian Day was recorded here one rainy day. Spider Eyes was recorded a very hectic day in Grieghallen Lydstudio with Pytten.

For this remake of Spiderman, I choose to work with Sjur Hjeltnes, who previously had done a fantastic job of arranging Reason To Believe for symphonic orchestra. We talked a lot about what to do, and how we wanted it to sound, ending up with a formula simply described as Òfunky retro italian crime soundÓ. Sjur then wrote the arrangement for bigband, composing some additional new themes. A group of super talented musicians was brought together by Sjur, and we managed to record everything in separate takes in a few late hours in Pyttens studio. After this, I rebuilt the song, using the separate takes as samples, not normal linear tracks, cutting everything up into small bits and rearranging it back.
