Additional:
A somewhat obscure release in Mingus career (stuck between two major earthquakes, namely Tijuana Moods and Ah Um), this set is indeed a highly interesting record both for newcomers (as this is one of the most successfull attempt of Mingus at reaching mainstream) and for Mingus hardcore fans (who will find here the usual suspects).
Noticeably, Bill Evans performance is reasonnably good, as the pianist was yet untouched by Miles Davis.
The first releases didn't have the last two alternate takes. Buyers should preferably choose official Bethlehem releases (distributed by ZYX in Europe).
