Annotation

Label: Rhino/Atlantic - Catalog #: 75589 - Format: CD - Rel: 1999 (USA)
Recording Date: 1961/11/06
Location: New York City, USA
Additional:
One of the releases with Roland Kirk, this is probably the most wicked and funny Mingus album.
Mingus is shouting like a craze all along, and titles like Eat That Chicken should definitely be hit singles in a perfect world.

This remastered edition trades off the edited interview found in other cd releases for three additional tracks previously released in Tonight at Noon, thus present no specific interest to Mingus completists who certainly own either the Atlantic box set or both original editions of the two releases.

TEMP:

  • Booker Ervin - tenor sax
  • Rahsaan Roland Kirk - flute, siren, tenor sax, manzello, strich
  • Jimmy Knepper - trombone
  • Charles Mingus - piano, vocals
  • Doug Watkins - bass
  • Dannie Richmond - drums
