Upon the release of Placebo's debut album in 1996, no one would have dreamed that the band would still be around ten years later. But while the press may have labelled them contrived and insincere, Brian Molko and crew have carved their own musical niche releasing consistently popular albums.

Meds shows off few changes to the Placebo style. Although lead single "Because I Want You" may be unmemorable, the album's title track shows off the Placebo we know andlove. "Meds" builds from a menacing strum to a hypnotic, unnerving chorus complete with violent rifts and vocals from The Kills Alison Mosshart. Creepy love song "Post Blue" wriggles its way into your unconscious with a powerful relentless hook while the gentler side of Placebo is shown most effectively in the cinematic "Follow The Cops Back Home".

Compelling and chilling, Placebo have once again proved themselves as a unique band who won't be going away any time soon.
