For me Déjà Vu came out right when we all started getting our first MP3 players, so I have fond nostaliga for this track. It comes from the period wherein Beyoncé was making more "by the numbers" music, suitable for top 40 radio play however that doesn't tarnish the quality of this track. The horns and the beat carry this song and no one can underestimate Beyoncé's vocal performance. Jay doesn't bring a lot to this track, giving his typical "I'm the best, the very best" rap verse - to which if you dislike it that much there exists a variant which cuts him out of this song entirely! (Not present on this release).

As for the single, as previously mentioned this came right at the time I got my first MP3 player (how special that was) and this is the era when CD singles start to give the customer less and less. No multimedia content, one remix and that's it - and the remix isn't really that good either, trying to give a modern disco twist on the original.
