Guidelines

A single from another release group should contain at least one song, typically the single's title track, which is sourced from the album. It does not need to be the exact same version ("single version", "radio edit", etc.).

Compilations and soundtracks should not be marked as "taken from another release group", even if they contain singles from them. Similarly, singles shouldn't be marked as being taken from a compilation just because they were included on the compilation, although they should be marked as taken from a compilation if the single was released specifically in connection with the compilation (some compilations will include one or two new singles to help grow sales).

The linked source release group should be the one which contains only the appropriate album or soundtrack. Release groups for releases containing two albums and/or EPs should not be used for such relationships. e.g. Bad Moon Rising is a single which was taken from Green River, not from Green River / Cosmo's Factory or Green River / Willy and the Poor Boys.
