Barbra Streisand Scoring Stage (formerly Sony Pictures Studios Scoring Stage before Feb 9, 2004)

The largest motion picture scoring venue in the world, based in Culver City, CA, USA. Originally named the historic MGM Scoring Stage, when it was transformed from a filming stage that was built in 1929 into a full-fledged film scoring stage. "In the 1970s, the entire lot was acquired by investor Kirk Kerkorian, and in the following years the filming and post-production studios changed hands several times." — (source). For a period during the 80s it was known as Lorimar Music Scoring, and later as Sony Pictures Scoring Stage, possibly since 1990 (when Sony Pictures Entertainment acquired the lot as their global headquarters). On Feb 9, 2004 Sony Pictures Entertainment unveiled the newly renovated scoring stage which it rechristened as the Barbra Streisand Scoring Stage.

The M-G-M Studios complex, which had been in operation since 1939, was sold to Lorimar Productions in 1986, and the scoring stage facility became known then as Lorimar Music Scoring. Warner Communications acquired Lorimar sometime in 1989, then later sold it to Sony Corporation of America (which had acquired Columbia Pictures) sometime ca. 1990. Sony later renamed the complex as Sony Pictures Studios, and Lorimar Music Scoring in turn became Sony Pictures Studios Scoring Stage.
