Virgin Japan (1988–1992)
~ Label
Annotation
Virgin Japan Ltd. was originally founded as a fully-owned subsidiary of Virgin Music Group in 1988. The company became a joint venture between Pony Canyon Inc. and Virgin Music Group in 1990. Around the middle of July 1992, the company was dissolved. Toshiba-EMI Ltd. took over the international music releases while laying off the international section staff, whereas the Japanese artists and staff were moved to Pony Canyon Inc.'s newly established company Media Remoras.
The international music releases featured both a "Virgin Japan" logo and the artist's original label (e.g., Virgin, 10 Records, Circa Records, etc.). The Japanese artist releases only carried the "Virgin Japan" logo.
Renamed to: Media Remoras (a record company under Pony Canyon Inc.)
