Annotation
This is for Japanese artists mostly prior to 2002. For non-Japanese music (UI**), see Polydor (worldwide). For new J-Pop after 2022, see Polydor Records (2023–).
History
- 2001: Polydor as a company is renamed/merged into the new UNIVERSAL POLYDOR company. The Polydor imprint is still used as a frontline Japanese domestic label.
- 2002.06: UNIVERSAL POLYDOR is renamed/merged into the new UNIVERSAL J production company. For most artists, the Polydor imprint was retired, but one notable exception was スピッツ.
- 2023: A new Polydor Records was launched after "20 years" from half of UNIVERSAL J.
