Victor (defunct “His Master’s Voice” imprint, succeeded by RCA Victor)

One of the oldest labels, Victor also is remarkable for it never produced cylinders but directly bet on discs.
As such, it was involved in the early lawsuits from which it eventually emerged as a winner, buying both Zonophone and the remains of Berliner Gramophone.

The Victor Talking Machine Company which controlled the Victor Records imprint was sold to the Radio Corporation of America in 1929, later to be renamed into RCA Victor.

Victor had a policy barring artists under exclusive contract from appearing on the radio. This policy was dropped in 1925.
