History
Before June 30, 2007, the company was Toshiba-EMI. "EMI Music Japan" was established after Toshiba-EMI sold its stake in the Japanese branch of EMI.
On April 1, 2013, Universal Music LLC completed its acquisition of EMI Music Japan. Imports (VJCP catalog numbers) were transferred to the USM Japan division. The rest of EMI Music Japan's primary imprints (Eastworld, Capitol Japan, Virgin Japan) were retired and merged into the new EMI Records Japan division, with subsequent releases bearing only the "Universal Music" and "EMI" logos.
Previously known as: 東芝EMI 株式会社 (Toshiba EMI, record company, do not use as release label – check obi, back or disc for imprint! Ended 2007‐06‐29)
Renamed to: EMI Records Japan (a J-Pop division of Universal Music Japan, 2013–2014 only)
