In June 1965 the Columbia Graphophone Company Ltd. was merged into The Gramophone Co. Ltd., both of which had until then still been part of Electric & Musical Industries Ltd. since 1931. The Gramophone Co. Ltd. in turn was renamed as EMI Records Ltd. on 1 July 1973.
