Nippon Columbia was established as Nippon Phonograph Co. in 1910. The Columbia brand name from Columbia UK was adopted in 1931, and in 1946, the company was renamed Nippon Columbia Co. Ltd. The record label changed its name again to Columbia Music Entertainment in October 2002. On October 1 2010, it renamed itself once again to the present Nippon Columbia.
