Originally founded in 1999 as Langeweg Live-Stock-Services Deutschland GmbH, the company was renamed to Nova Media Distribution and took over the duties of now-closed Nova Tekk Media + Distribution on January 1st, 2000.

In 2002 it was taken over by the current managing director Frank Schreiner, re-named into Nova MD and integrated in the existing structure of Music Mail Tonträger GmbH with its vinyl distribution.
