txalaparta (Traditional Basque idiophone)

~ Percussion instrument


Traditionally consisting of two long wooden planks with corn-husks attached for vibration and hit with long, thick sticks called Makilak, today the planks are shorter and can be made of many other materials like stone, wood or metal and are hit with shorter, lighter sticks.
