Annotation

Several orchestras based in Berlin have had names which can be translated as "Berlin Symphony Orchestra". Thus, if you are unable to find the orchestra that actually performed, you can use this. Please make some effort first - don't use this artist as a quick way out. If the orchestra uses its German name, don't use this - find the right one in the list below.

Likely options are:
Konzerthausorchester Berlin
From East Berlin, founded in 1952. Up to 2006 it was called Berliner Sinfonie-Orchester.

Berliner Symphoniker
From West Berlin, founded in 1967. Previously (up to 1990) the Symphonisches Orchester Berlin. Formed from the merger of the two orchestras following:

Berliner Symphonisches Orchester
From West Berlin, operated from 1949 to 1967.

Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin
From West Berlin, founded in 1946. Previous names are RIAS-Symphonie-Orchester (1946-1956) and Radio-Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (1956-1993). Don't confuse this orchestra with:

Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin
From East Berlin, founded in 1923. Still operating.
