Junaid Malik, formally known as 'Kalum', is a 25-year-old independent singer/song-writer, re emerging into the British Asian music industry. after a seven-year hiatus.
Malik has had hit singles with over 200.000+ youtube views such as 'Up and Away' and 'Burn it Down'. which were also featured on multiple radio stations and music channels in the UK such as Brit Asia and B4U. Malik pursued his independent music career after finishing third place in finals at BritAsia Superstar 2009, a televised singing competition.
Growing up in West London, Malik aims to bring back the music that comes from his local influencers; Channi Singh, Alaap, and the Rishi Rich Project. Over the years, Malik has worked with producers who have entered the Bollywood industry, such as Zack Knight and Knightstarr .
Malik has also featured on several episodes of the popular asian Youtube comedy Series "Diary of A Badman".
In the summer of 2018, Malik released his come back single "Thuwan Urda (Swayin’)” which saw him collaborate with London record producer Jayson jay (7even2wice,Anis Halloway,) and featured a guitar solo from the psychedelic rock specialist Sameer Khan (Karma Sheen), whom recently performed in London with the renowned Qawalli singer Shujat Ali Khan.
Free from the constraints of a record label and with his passion for exploring various musical genres and different cultures, Malik is able to blend his distinctive voice and take his art to a place where musical and lyrical integrity meets commercial mainstream.
