John Jowitt, bass guitarist best known for his work with UK progressive bands IQ, Arena and Frost* has reformed ARK.

Jowitt, currently the British Classic Rock Society’s best bass player, promises us something theatrical, folky & proggy!

“ARK were my main band back in the late ‘80s. We won a local bands competition in our first year together and became regulars at Edwards in Birmingham, ending up regularly playing the Marquee. We produced a couple of releases, and after Fish left Marillion, we were touted as possible replacements.”

“We carried on, playing 60-80 gigs a year, including Paris and a double headliner with It Bites at the Noorderligt in Holland, and supported iQ on their 'Are You Sitting Comfortably' tour in England

“We're now back together, recording an album of material for release in September and sorting out some gigs, with a new album of completely new material to follow early in 2011.

“We’re continuing the band’s original theatrical, folky, progressive direction, which should push a few buttons and – you never know, it might uncover many a prog fans ‘G-spot’!”

Joining Jowitt in the 2010 incarnation of ARK are original members Tony Short on vocals and flute, Pete Wheatley - lead guitar , Steve Harris - guitar synth , and new member Tim Churchman, formerly of Darwin’s Radio, on drums

The forthcoming album, entitled Wild Untamed Imaginings, will be released later in the year (target date: September) label to be confirmed.
