Wrathchild America were originally formed in 1978 under the name Atlantis. They changed their name to Tyrant in 1980, but a year later they changed their name to Wrathchild. The band finally became Wratchild America after they signed to Atlantic Records in 1988 in order to avoid confusion with the Wrathchild from England. Wrathchild America lasted for approximately three years, spanning only two albums on Atlantic. After leaving the label, the band changed their name to Souls at Zero, who would release two albums before calling it quits in the mid-to-late 1990s.
