They are from a small village outside of St Albans and pride themselves of being the second best band in the village, behind 60’s psyche legends The Zombies. They have released 23 albums and been featured on Huw Stephens’s Radio 1 show as “gods of the pod”. They have also been championed by BBC Radio 6’s Tom Robinson who they recorded a live session for back in 2009.

This new single, which is taken from their new album – “In Search of The Divine” has been reviewed by Tom Robinson’s Fresh On The Net website which stated;

“Hailing from St Albans, The Pocket Gods admit to writing “songs about sex, snacks and UFOs.” And sharing a fondness for druggy, wall-of-sound, orchestral bombast with Spiritualized, The Pocket Gods seemingly come readymade to take on the established Brit-rock hierarchy.”

The Unwashed Territories blog review of the album says;

“What we have here is a band making a curious move forward, while thankfully not sacrificing any of the elements that made them so great in the first place. Although I've liked everything else they've put out in between, it's no coincidence that this is coming across as the freshest Pocket Gods album since the glorious Lo Fi Sci Fi came out five years ago. If a tendency to dabble with the wistfully ironic and the benignly unthinkable is going to give us results like this, the next five years of this thankfully prolific outfit might prove, remarkably, to be even more thrilling.”

The Pocket Gods have a cult following worldwide and particularly big in Catalonia. Are they the new Barcelona? (creative short stuff but quite Messi) The Catalan music blog The Jangle Box says about the Gods’ new single;

“a psychedelic pop shoe-gazing search into the unknown“. “A psyche pop masterpiece of invention and creativity which shows the gods at their very best!
