About|the Band

Wandering Hands is Kelly Bowen, Leith McCombs, Britta Jean Duvall-Hemmen, along with various featured guest musicians.
Kelly Bowen-McCombs
Kelly sings mezzo-soprano and plays a collection of rare and unusual bowed instruments, namely the lyra da braccio, rebec, and nyckelharpa (and occasionally a plain old violin.) She also plays hammered dulcimer, mandolin, and hand percussion. She is our organizer in chief and the one sitting in the booth with the engineer when we record.
Leith McCombs
Leith got a BA in Music from WWU in 1995 as a vocalist but has always considered himself primarily an instrumentalist and has never had that much interest in performing classically. He sings and plays guitar and all manner of guitar-like instruments, especially cittern, oud, mandolin, and more recently, banjo and bass. He also occasionally picks up a flute, recorder, or penniwhistle and created this website.
Britta Jean Duval-Hemmen
Jeannie has a list of credentials even longer than her name. She got her Masters' degree in Vocal Performance from Boston Conservatory in 1995, where she was a star student, even recieving master classes from Joan Sutherland. She has aced every major vocal audition in the classical world but can't take opera roles for health reasons. She commands a higher hourly rate as a soloist than the entire band.
