A talented altoist, Mr John Richard Handy III featured on a number of highly recommendable Mingus records, before gaining recognition and leading a few excellent sessions on his own during the late 60's.
He later explored various music fields, recording an honorable number of albums with different and quite original formations.
Mr Handy is also known as a teacher in various universities of the San Francisco area.
Note that there also exist a (unrelated) John "Captain John" Handy, saxophonist playing dixie.
