Leroy Anderson (1908-1975) was one of the pre-eminent composers of "classical pops" music. Though best known for "Sleigh Ride" (originally a pure instrumental) and "Syncopated Clock" (used as theme music for the CBS "Late Show" and Jeopardy), he wrote many others just as deserving of attention which are still widely played in pops concerts.
Note that although his first name is spelled normally, it seems to be universally pronounced le-ROY. For more information, check out the official web page at http://www.leroy-anderson.com/ .
