Throne Of Mortality was an American black metal band from Edison, New Jersey founded in July of 2005 by guitarist Alexandre Julien (aka Virkelig Død, and later Virkelix) and vocalist Howard Change (aka Sabbat, and later Sabatic). After several line-up changes in the rhythm section (drummers and bassists) during the summer, Howard took on the additional role of bassist. In September of 2005, Howard moved to New Brunswick, New Jersey to attend Rutgers University, which slowed down the band practices. At Rutgers University, Howard met Saquib Malik who asked him to join his black metal/harsh noise band Funeral Junkie (which later changed name to Black Albatross). After a couple of months, Howard left Throne Of Mortality to focus solely on Funeral Junkie, but before leaving taught Alexandre how to perform growling vocals. Starting in November of 2005, Alexandre Julien became the sole band member in Throne Of Mortality, performing vocals, guitar and bass. A drummer was always searched for but never found.

After releasing 4 demos in 2005, Alexandre dedicated the first half of 2006 to composing an extended play's worth of material, which culminated into the "Monumental Dedication" EP. Demo versions of this EP were recorded but the final version was put off until a full band could be assembled. In the late summer of 2006, Alexandre relocated to Montreal, Canada, and attempted to find new band members there. While in Canada, Throne Of Mortality's second extended play was composed during the second half of the year, culminating into the "Morbid Depression" EP. Demo versions of this EP were also recorded but again the final version was put off until a full band could be assembled.

On October 6th 2006, Alexandre founded a new atmospheric black metal band, Vision Lunar. Initially, there was a difference in style and sound between the later Throne Of Mortality songs and the early Vision Lunar songs. But soon, Vision Lunar became more of a continuation of what Throne Of Mortality had started. In early December of 2006, Alexandre returned to Edison, New Jersey. By this time, Vision Lunar was already taking up most of his time After a considerable success releasing Vision Lunar's demo "Luna Borea" on January 3rd 2007, Alexandre dissolved Throne Of Mortality on January 10th 2007 in order to focus on on the newer band.
