Annotation

Formed in 1952, Orchestre de chambre de la radiodiffusion française was an offshoot from the original Orchestre radio-symphonique that was founded in 1937. Orchestre radio-symphonique in turn was renamed as Orchestre philharmonique de la radiodiffusion française (1952–1960), later Orchestre philharmonique de la RTF (1960–1964).

Together with Orchestre radio‐lyrique (1941–1976), this chamber orchestra was folded into Orchestre philharmonique de l’ORTF (1964–1976) to form the Nouvel Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France in 1976 (which in 1989 took on its present name Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France.
