Accomplished drummer, Mr Graves, like Don Cherry, introduced a lot of ethnic and traditionnal music elements in his play, making him one of the most original drummer of the free jazz movement.
After the decisive 1964 year, he moved from latin jazz to free, playing with Don Pullen and Andrew Cyrille.
He featured extensively in Ayler's formations in 65, 67 and 68, noticably on the remarquable Ayler's Love Cry.
Graves also played an important role in the community as an event organizer.
Has recently been spotted involved with John Zorn.
