On 5 September 2007, the day of his birthday, Dahvie Vanity wrote his first song, "Let's Start a Riot" (now known as the track Blood on the Dance Floor) and his friends Christopher Mongillo and Rebecca Fugate joined him to form the band Love The Fashion.
In a studio session Christopher proposed the name "Blood on the Dance Floor" as a suggestion for the name of the band. The name immediately pleased Dahvie and Rebecca and soon became the band name.
Fugate died in a car crash before the release of Let's Start a Riot!. The band continued to record material for the next album, however Mongillo left while the band was still recording.
Garrett Ecstasy joined as an unofficial backup singer/screamer for the second album, It's Hard to Be A Diamond In A Rhinestone World.
After Garrett and Dahvie became friends, Garrett became an official member of the band recording the EPs I Scream I Scream, Extended Play, and OMFG Sneak Peak; which was a sneak peak to the never released album OMFG. This album remains unreleased because Garrett and Dahvie split up in the middle of touring for the album in Portland, Oregon.
Following this period, Jayy Von Monroe and Matty M became members of the band and recorded the single Horrifically Delicious. This is the only recording featuring Matty M's vocals, as Matty left soon after.
BOTDF remade several of the tracks from the EP's (and one single) that Garrett was in. The single Matty M was in was also remade, and the tracks featuring Jeffree Star were discarded.
Most of the remade tracks were featured in EPIC. The other remakes featured in a free downloadable EP.
The different tracks are differentiated with disambiguations, and can be all viewed in the recordings view.
- Some tracks not on the standard edition of a release exist on a re-release or a deluxe edition etc.. of the release (which can be found within the respective album/EP's release group).
