Анатолий Герасимов (jazz saxophonist, flutist and composer)

originally from the Soviet Union, he left Russia in 1973, supposedly to emigrate to Israel. he however stayed briefly in Vienna (which was a stopover enroute to Israel), then Rome, before being granted refugee status(?) in the US, where for years he was based in New York. had played with Mercer Ellington's orchestra in 1974, after Duke Ellington's death. moved to Paris in 1983, returned to Russia in 1995, and in 1997, Russia returned to him citizenship.
