The Girls (R&B, former Prince bassist, André Cymone)

~ Group

Annotation

In 1983, former Prince bassist, Andre Cymone, sought to continue the sexually driven Minneapolis girl-group sound made popular by such groups as Vanity/Apollonia 6 . Sheila Rankin, Germain Brooks and Doris Rhodes would soon be gathered to assemble the adequately titled "The Girls (appropriate for their gender and under 20 ages)" trio under the guidance of Cymone, and land a deal with Columbia records in 1984. Their first and only lp, Girl Talk, was released the same year yielding the single Don't Waste My Time along with a 12" release of S-E-S-E-X. Before a follow-up album could be issued, The Girls disbanded and parted ways from Columbia in 1985.
