One of the very talented saxophonist to emerge from and go beyond hard-bop, Mr Richardson was also a gifted multi-instrumentist.
Somewhat underrated, he spent most of his career as a sideman, featuring along with (more) prestigious (and not necessarily more) talented artists like Adderley, Quincy, or Chico Hamilton, and on a few historical sessions as well, noticeably with Charles Mingus.
