Sam Jones (US jazz bassist)

~ Person

Annotation

If not a "forgotten soldier", Sam Jones is certainly under-evaluated.
Very competent both with bass and cello, his appearances alongside Kenny Dorham and Cannonball Adderley are possibly the most known aspect of his career.
Sam Jones also gave birth to a number of remarquable sessions under his own name, demonstrating both world class skills and a stunning maturity.
Down Home (Riverside) is probably a very good start for beginners, while listeners more familiar with his early work will be delighted by the whole serie of 70's records.
