Annotation
This originally appears in the film, The Wall, in two parts. First verse appears at the start of the film in a flash back. On the CDs it is often part of the first track.
The rest of the song then appears later on during the film.
Various versions have been released, all different mixes.
The first appearance of the full song appeared as a single in 1982. This has a different intro and vocal.
This single version next appeared on a promo CD for Roger Waters' 1990 live performance of The Wall at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin.
A longer 3:42 mix appeared on the 2001 compilation album Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd. This has an extended into and less percussion heard in the Echoes mix. More of the male choir is heard.
An edited mix of the song was then inserted into the 2004 rerelease of The Final Cut, where it was placed between "One of the Few" and "The Hero's Return". This is a version of the Echoes mix, but with a shorter intro. Cutting the length to 3:16
