The composer of this work was attributed to S. De Luca by Parisotti's "Arie Antiche", and this credit was continued by Schirmer's "Twenty-Four Italian Songs and Arias for Medium Low Voice". However, John Glenn Paton's "26 Italian Songs and Arias" argues that the actual composer was Giovanni Battista Bononcini (1670-1747).
