Don Giovanni

~ Release by Mozart; Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Claudio Abbado (see all versions of this release, 1 available)

Annotation

The libretto for this recording of Don Giovanni differs from more traditional librettos in ways that affect how the scenes are numbered.

  1. Act I Scene XVI includes "Guarda un po'" and "Presto presto pria ch'ei venga" which would traditionally be in their own Scene XVII.
  2. Act II does not include the duet "Per queste tue manine", meaning the traditional scenes XI, XII, and XIII are missing.
  3. The aria "Mi tradì quell'alma ingrata" is part of Act II Scene X instead of in its own scene (traditionally XIV).

Compared to the more traditional numbering, Act I scenes after XVI are off by one, and Act II scenes after X are off by four. However, the track titles match the recording's scene numbers so that the MusicBrainz user can easily match the tags to the libretto.
