Sharing their name with a Cynthia Kadohata book, Kira Kira are the latest aural wave to break from the crystal-blue coasts of Iceland - bringing with them the kind of digitally founded (yet emotionally rich) sound that demands comparison with Múm. The chosen appellation of Kristin Bjork Kristjansdottir (a founding member of Icelandic art collective Kitchen Motors), 'Skotta' is a piecemeal selection of sounds and music-boxes collected over the years then woven together with an eye for both detail and unashamed charm. Speckled throughout with a smattering of vocals, 'Skotta' opens through the gorgeous 'Boat' - wherein a chiming miasma of sounds flutter into being around a chiming core, before 'Romantic Accident' fuzzes the lower end out through a cowl of warm static. Elsewhere, the triptych of 'Epitaph', 'Dyri' and 'Malfur Skinnytone Junior' form the highlights of the LP - bringing an inclusiveness and genre-breaching style that seems the epitome of Iceland's musical output.
