Locked Inside Your Prison / Death of a Salesman

Death of a Salesman was issued as part of a Government Youth Training Scheme (YTS) in 1984. It should be worth noting that Record Collector (issue 209) states that this was Shirley Manson's and Goodbye Mr Mackenzie's first single. Shirley is reported in a number of articles to have joined GMM in 1985 a year after the release of Death of a Salesman.

Metcalfe told Record Collector magazine the following.
"There was a pilot music-business course at Bathgath College in 1984, under the YTS, We recorded a single called Death of a Salesman, which was quite poppy, fairly lively, again a bit like New Order. We had one side, and there was a different artist on the other. Just 1000 copies were pressed, and because this was the first, the record sold out."

Note the different spelling of the Bandname.
