Down Home (traditional jazz, 50s, folded into Verve)

~ Label

Annotation

Down Home was the lesser known of Granz labels, which he bought from Lu Watters around 1953.
Much like Norgran and Verve, which were respectively geared toward modern jazz and jazz pop, Down Home specialized in traditional jazz, with titles from Kid Ory, Meade "Lux" Lewis and the like.

With about 30 releases, Down Home was folded into Verve in 1956 (and now belong to Universal, though the situation of the tapes is not clear).
