Supporting Release Relationship Type

This relationship type belongs to the Alternative Version Relationship Class.
Description
This indicates that a release was released in support of another release. This allows a release to be linked to its supporting singles, EPs, and remix releases. A 'supporting release' is one which is released to increase sales of an album or to create publicity for an album.

- The Begin Date fields should be left empty.

Guidelines

- Each relevant "supported" and "supporting" release should be linked.
- Compilations and soundtracks cannot be supporting releases, though they can be supported by another release. However:
- Any release can be considered to be a 'supporting' release if the release identifies itself as a supporting release.
If the supporting release includes text stating that it was "taken from" an album, or in some other way identifies itself as being from an album, then the Single From Release relationship type should be normally be used, not this relationship. However, the two relationships may be used at the same time. Before both are used simultaneously, consider what question(s) are relevant:

Incorrect use of this relationship. The 1993 release was not released in support of the 2002 re-release of the album:
