Subtitle

In MusicBrainzTerminology, the subtitle is a text string following the MainTitle in an ReleaseTitle. On the cover of an Release, the subtitle is often written on a different line than the MainTitle, possibly in a smaller font. Not all releases have a subtitle; some have more than one. The examples below will clarify this.

SubTitles follow SubTitleStyle.

Examples

  • ReleaseTitle: "100% Hits: The Best of 1998 (disc 1)"

    • SubTitle: "The Best of 1998"

  • ReleaseTitle: "Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix"

    • SubTitle: "HIStory in the Mix"

  • ReleaseTitle: "Bravo Hits: Best of '92 (disc 1)"

    • SubTitle: "Best of '92"

  • ReleaseTitle: "Bug Swamp: The Complete Bug Hits: 1987-1990"

    • SubTitles: "The Complete Bug Hits" and "1987-1990"

  • ReleaseTitle: "Abbey Road"

    • SubTitle: none

  • ReleaseTitle: "Greatest Hits, Volume 2 (disc 2: The Sober Years)"

    • SubTitle: none
