This EditType removes an artist and the artist's aliases and annotations.

How to do it

• If an artist has no releases, tracks and AdvancedRelationships associated with them, there will be a Remove this Artist link on the ArtistPage. Clicking on that link takes you to a page where you can provide an EditNote explaining why you are removing the artist and then click on the YES button to remove the artist.

• LetModBotDoIt:

  • Since the ModBot will automatically perform the removal, feel free to be lazy.

• CheckAnnotations:

  • There are some SpecialPurposeArtists, like Soundtrack, that shouldn't have any releases or tracks, but which shouldn't be deleted either. Check the annotations to make sure you don't remove such an artist.

Notes

It is not possible to perform a RemoveArtistEdit if the artist has any releases, tracks or AdvancedRelationships associated with them.

This edit, if allowed, will be automatically approved and take effect immediately.

The ModBot will automatically perform a RemoveArtistEdit for any artist with no albums or tracks or outstanding OpenEdits.

Dependencies

A RemoveArtistEdit will fail due to a FailedDependency if there are any open MoveReleaseEdit or ChangeTrackArtistEdits that (if approved) would associate releases or tracks with this artist.
