This relationship type belongs to the NGS Upgrade Relationship Class.

Description

This indicates that two releases are part of a set. A set is a single release which contains multiple discs (or other media), which are currently entered into MusicBrainz as separate releases. The actual release could be an album with one or more bonus discs, or a box set containing any number of discs (or other media).

Attributes

“start date”

These fields should be left empty.

“end date”

These fields should be left empty.

“bonus”

This indicates that the next disc is a bonus disc. A release is considered to be a 'bonus' release if the set can also be obtained without that release, under the same release title.

Guidelines

Link the releases of a set to each other in sequence.
Do not link all of the releases in a set to the first releases in the set.
Do not create this relationship when a bonus disc is also available separately under its own title, but has not been duplicated in the database due to the reasons outlined at What Defines A Unique Release. (This is for technical reasons; this relationship type does not make sense in that context).
Do not create this relationship for "single sets" (commonly found in the United Kingdom). This is where two (or more) singles are released separately, but promoted as a "set". They often include "CD1", "CD2", or similar indications on the covers. As these are releases which are sold individually, they do not meet the definition of a 'set', even though they are promoted as one.
