This relationship type belongs to the Personal Association Relationship Class.

Description

This links two artists together where one is the parent of the other.

Artist is the parent of Artist
Artist is the child of Artist

Attributes

“start date”

This indicates the date that the child-parent relationship began.

For birth parents, this is the date that the child artist was born.
For adoptive parents, this is the date that the child artist was adopted.
For step-parents, this is either the date that the child artist was born or the date that the child artist's parents married, whichever is later.

“end date”

This should be left blank.

“step”

This indicates that the child-parent relationship is due only to the marriage of the child's parent; i.e., that parental kinship between the child artist and the target artist exists only because one of the child artist's parents married the target artist.

Guidelines

This relationship type is only applicable to person artists. Neither artist involved in this relationship type may be a group artist.
This relationship type should be used to link the artists' legal names. An artist's performance name should not be linked using this relationship type.
