• This artist/release you entered already exists in MB under the proper artist/title.

  • - I'd preffer a simpler "Already here: {link}". It's not too "brusque", and I doubt it's any harder to understand.

• Your edits do not meet MB StyleGuide specifications. Please read the StyleGuideline at http://musicbrainz.org/doc/StyleGuideline

  • - OK for very messy entries, but probably needs to be more specific.

• If you add links, you'll get votes much quicker!

  • - My favourite, after long refinement: asking for "proof" tends to annoy people, but this way they're reminded (or notified) that there's a voting process, and they see an immediate self-interest in adding links. Also, the cherry on the cake: the exclamation mark seems to make people more cooperant. (But don't use more than one, you'll piss off people like me!!!) I think a smiley works, but the bang is probably a bit more "stimulant". -- Bogdanb
