This relationship type belongs to the Affiliate Relationship Class.

Description

This is used to link a MusicBrainz release to the equivalent entry at Amazon. This allows users to link to the Amazon pages to show the right cover art.

Note that whereas you are to enter the complete URL, the display of this relationship type is customized such that it displays only the ASIN code. If you want to go to the Amazon page for this release, you have to click on the cover art.

Enter URLs that point to any Amazon product page that contain an Amazon ASIN. The server will extract the ASIN from the URL and use it accordingly.

Add an ASIN only for the original release country. Amazon has switched their stores to use the same format for all of their domains except China. Many releases are listed not only in the Amazon shop from the country they originated from, but also at the other sites, marked as "[IMPORT]". It is preferred to enter the version of the Amazon store which sells the original version, often the Amazon store which is the nearest to the country of origin of the release artist, or at least the distribution of the release:
- Canada
- France
- Germany
- Japan
- U.K.
- U.S.A.
- Italy
- Spain (won't give cover art yet)
Do not edit the URL manually, just copy and paste the URL from your browser's address bar.
All ASINs are OK, but some are more OK. The purpose of the Amazon relationship is to provide cover images, but also additional information for releases. Not every Amazon product page has a usable official cover image, but Amazon also allows customers to upload a images for a product. Unfortunately the URLs of those so called customer images cannot be derived from the product URL as specified above. All product covers that are not provided directly by Amazon are labeled with "Customer image from <Custom Seller name>" (example). Before you add a relationship to such an ASIN, please make sure that no offical product page exists on another Amazon domain.
As advanced relationships of the Affiliate Relationship Class override those of other URL classes, this relationship should be used to link to Amazon, rather than the Mail Order Relationship Type or Has Cover Art At Relationship Type.
