Ronny & the Daytonas

"GTO" was written by John 'Bucky' Wilkin (son of Marijohn Wilkin, established Nashville songwriter)
she entrusted arranger Bill Justis with touring the tune into a finished record. Justis used young musicians on the fringes of Nashville scene and played spinet on the record himself. others on the session included vocalist and songwriter Buzz Cason (whom later wrote "Everlasting Love") and Joe South's brother, Tommy, on drums.

Ronny and the Daytonas consolidated with further studio-contrived hits such as "Bucket T" and "Sandy".
This kept them in the public's eye even though they remained a fictitious group. Wilkin disliked touring, and a constantly varying line-up was sent on the road to exploit the name.
It was the last of these touring groups (BB Cunningham, Jerry Masters, John Hunter & Gary McEwan) who recorded "Let it all Hang Out" as The Hombres
